Mohamed Montari, Egypt's first Muslim astronaut, has passed away in Al Gharafa. He was born on September 12, 1958,Serie A Overview and served as the commander of the Egyptian Space Research and Training Center (ESTEC) from 1997 to 2004.
Montari was a member of the Egyptian Air Force and was trained by NASA for his space mission. He was also a pilot with the Egyptian Air Force and flew more than 3,000 hours in various aircraft.
Montari was known for his dedication to his work and his passion for science. He was one of the few astronauts who were not only Muslim but also Arab, which made him stand out among other astronauts.
